How to detect the insulation resistance and withstand voltage of dense bus duct?

Publish Time: 2025-02-27
As an indispensable component in modern power systems, the insulation resistance and withstand voltage of dense bus duct are key indicators to ensure the safe and stable operation of the system. In order to ensure that the performance of the bus duct meets the design requirements, it must be strictly tested for insulation resistance and withstand voltage.

Insulation resistance test is an important means to evaluate the insulation performance of the bus duct. This test uses a megohmmeter (also known as a high resistance meter) to measure the insulation resistance between phases and between phases and ground of the bus duct. Before the test, it should be ensured that the inside of the bus duct is clean and free of moisture, and the test environment should also be kept dry to avoid the influence of external factors on the test results. During the test, the test end of the megohmmeter is connected to the phase line and ground line (or shell) of the bus duct respectively, and then a certain test voltage (usually 500V or 1000V) is applied, and the insulation resistance value after a certain time (such as 1 minute) is recorded. According to industry standards, the insulation resistance value should not be lower than the specified value (usually not lower than 1000MΩ or higher) to ensure that the bus duct will not leak due to poor insulation during operation.

The withstand voltage test verifies the bus duct's ability to withstand the specified voltage. This test uses a high-voltage tester to apply a test voltage higher than the rated voltage of the bus duct and maintain it for a certain time (usually 1 minute) to observe whether there is breakdown or discharge. The selection of the test voltage should be determined according to the rated voltage of the bus duct and industry standards. During the test, close attention should be paid to whether the bus duct housing and connecting parts have abnormal heating, deformation or discharge. The withstand voltage test results should show that the bus duct has good insulation performance and withstand capacity at the specified voltage to ensure its safe operation under high-voltage environments.

When conducting insulation resistance and withstand voltage tests, the safety operating procedures should be strictly followed to ensure the safety of the test personnel and the integrity of the equipment. The test equipment should be checked and calibrated before the test to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test results. At the same time, records and analysis should be done during the test to promptly discover and deal with potential safety hazards.

In summary, insulation resistance test and voltage withstand test are important means to evaluate the performance of dense bus duct. Through strict testing and record analysis, it can ensure that the insulation performance and voltage withstand capacity of the bus duct meet the design requirements, providing a strong guarantee for the safe and stable operation of the power system.
